Climategate e-mails sweep America, may scuttle Barack Obama's Cap and Trade laws

News Type: Opinion — Seeded on Fri Nov 27, 2009 1:13 PM EST

Just a few considerations in addition to previous remarks about the explosion of the East Anglia Climategate e-mails in America. The reaction is growing exponentially there. Fox News, Barack Obama's Nemesis, is now on the case, trampling all over Al Gore's organic vegetable patch and breaking the White House windows. It has extracted some of the juiciest quotes from the e-mails and displayed them on-screen, with commentaries. Joe Public, coast-to-coast, now knows, thanks to the clowns at East Anglia's CRU, just how royally he has been screwed.

Senator James Inhofe's Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works has written to all the relevant US Government agencies, acquainting them with the nature of the e-mails. But the real car crash for Obama is on Capitol Hill where it is now confidently believed his Cap and Trade climate legislation is toast. It was always problematic; but with a growing awakening to the scale of the scientific imposture sweeping the world, as far as the Antipodes, the clever money is on Cap and Trade laws failing to pass, with many legislators sceptical and the mid-term elections looming ever closer.

For the first time, Anthropogenic Global Warming cranks are on the defensive, losing their cool and uttering desperate mantras such as “You can be skeptical, not in denial.” Gee, thanks, guys. In fact we shall be whatever we want to be, without asking your permission.

Not exactly, it's a tempest-in-a-teapot the climate change deniers like to brew-up.

So, CO2 is NOT a greenhouse gas because someone, somewhere sent an e-mail?

Galileo was not executed. A papal trial found him guilty of heresy and he was placed under house arrest. He was allowed to receive visitors was granted limited travel to Florence. He died of old age.

Paul, Galileo was not executed, and facts are not changed by dispute. The science has been perverted by the energy industry because some bloated executives are offended by the idea that the markets could fail as badly as it has with global warming.

Yeah - facts are disputed...Like you can now sail around the North Pole in the Arctic Ocean because so much sea ice is gone - like how there are no glaciers left in Glacier National Park - Keep on Keeping On, Climate Change Deniers.

Meanwhile, China is working overtime to develop Clean Energy so they can avoid the oncoming Oil trap the US loves to wallow in. Hope you like paying $100 a barrel to fund all those Terrorists you guys like to complain about...

madvargr,

Maybe you can read some opposing views on that matter .... and kinda read the other side of the matter where the Antarctic Ice Shelf is growing.

Man-made global warming is a hoax. The antidote ? Educate yourself.

I would suggest enviro-whackos to take their organic blankets, burrow deep into the ground and smoke ganja the rest of their lives. Leave the rest of us be, will ya ?

Oh, really. I don't think they can do what they did during the Olympics and exist long as a country.

TangoJones,

Are you sure you want to use China as an example of faithful stewards of the environment? lol

Being progressive in the US has that effect on people. So, they cite China as being good stewards but don't like their political system. They like French healthcare system but ..... no nuclear energy for the US, here we want windmills. It's selective liking, in other words the US is bad, everyone else is pure like the driven snow.

no nuclear energy for the US

It's the conservatives that blocked nuclear energy in the US. The French energy sector was totally nationalized at the nuclear build out in that country. Outside of safety and waste disposal issues nuclear energy is financially risky. You have an expensive complicated build out to get the cheap power on the back end. In the US free market the demand may not be there by the time you get into production.

When I say it's the conservatives that blocked US nuclear, it's them, the moderates, and even what most would call liberals. The US doesn't get warm and fuzzies off of anything even close to nationalized health care, the energy sector is no different.

The dose determines the poison, tangojones, and water is not a gas at normal atmospheric temperatures, but CO2 persists in the atmosphere for a long time. We should force energy companies to take responsibility and assume the true costs of their activities.

CO2 is STILL a greenhouse gas we're emitting, and no, I can't explain why "leading" IPCC researchers were engaged in data manipulation or deception because that's just a strawman. We have decades of OTHER data from all major research institutions; e-mails of dubious origins and claims do not change that.

Ignoring science plays no part in most "deniers" skepticism. In fact we don't ignore the science that demonstrates that AGW is improbable and unlikely, the way alarmists do. Having a science degree, I personally have an enormous regard and appreciation for science, and it's amazing contributions to the prosperity of mankind. 'Chicken little' AGW is not one of them.

While it is troubling that some climatologists appear to have at least discussed filtering data to improve the strength of their theories about global climate change -- an act that is a clear violation of scientific ethics -- this does not in and of itself provide evidence that man-induced climate change is a fallacy.

There is an overwhelming amount of empirical and observational data that support the contention that nitrogen and carbon-based gas emissions related to fossil fuel consumption have had a significant deleterious effect on the planet's climate patterns over the past century.
